Membership Categories

You can support TACAA's efforts on behalf of Community Action in Texas by joining the Association.  TACAA has four membership levels, CORPORATE, ASSOCIATE, AFFILIATE, and INDIVIDUAL.   Only designated Community Action Agencies in Texas are eligible for CORPORATE memberships.  For-profit entities make up the ASSOCIATE membership level.  Other non-profit organizations can be AFFILIATE members.  Anyone can join the organization at the INDIVIDUAL level.

Corporate Membership

For designated Texas Community Action Agencies

• Opportunity to network with colleagues.

• CAA Executive Director (or alternate) is entitled to a seat on the TACAA Board of Directors. TACAA Bylaws require paid Corporate and Individual Membership for voting privileges.

• Opportunity for CAA staff to serve on TACAA Committees and the Board of Directors (applicable if "Individual" Membership is current).

• Opportunity for CAA staff to receive professional development training from specialized consultants at conferences and seminars.

• Newsletters and E-updates including information relevant to CAAs and notices published in the Texas and Federal Registers. Fax alerts as necessary.

• Reduced conference rates for paid Corporate and Individual Members at TACAA's conferences.

Affiliate Membership

For non-profit organizations interested in supporting TACAA

The Texas Association of Community Action Agencies, Inc. (TACAA) accepts Affiliate Membership from non-profit organizations with similar purposes and mutual concerns with human service programs which are compatible with the goals and objectives of the Association.

Affiliate Member agencies will receive TACAA's newsletter, TACAA Talk, membership registration rate to conferences, exhibit space at cost during annual conferences, the opportunity to address the Board of Directors and information on mutual initiatives and/or concerns.

TACAA's membership year is January 1 to December 31. Annual dues for Affiliate Membership are $375.00. In accordance with TACAA Bylaws, application for Affiliate Membership must be submitted annually from new and current members. Organizations requesting Affiliate Membership status must seek the endorsement of the CAA in their service area. Exchange of gratis membership with non-profit statewide advocacy organizations will be presented tot he Board of Directors for acceptance. All applications will be reviewed by the TACAA Membership Committee, and then submitted to the TACAA Board of Directors for acceptance.

To initiate the approval process, complete an application form and mail it along with the dues to the TACAA office at 2512 I.H. 35 South, Suite 100, Austin, Texas 78704-5721.  E-mail the TACAA office at to request an application at tacaa@tacaa.org.

Associate Membership

For for-profit entities interested in supporting TACAA

The Texas Association of Community Action Agencies, Inc. (TACAA) accepts Associate Membership from for-profit organizations with similar purposes and mutual concerns with human services programs which are compatible with the goals and objectives of the Association.

Associate Member organizations will receive TACAA's newsletter, TACAA Talk, conference notices as well as free exhibit space at annual conferences, a directory of Community Action Agencies, and all other informational mailings.

TACAA's membership year is January 1 to December 31. Annual dues for Associate Membership are $400.00. In accordance with TACAA Bylaws, application for Associate Membership must be submitted annually from new and current members. The application will be reviewed by the TACAA Membership Committee, and then submitted to the TACAA Board of Directors for acceptance.

Individual Membership

For individuals interested in supporting TACAA

• Voting privileges at elections/business matters at general membership meetings held during the annual conferences;

• CAA staff have the opportunity to serve on a TACAA Committee (applicable if the agency's Corporate Membership is current);

• Opportunity to serve on the Board of Directors through Officer and Sectional Convener elections (applicable if the agency's Corporate Membership is current);

• Reduced registration rates at TACAA's conferences (applicable if the agency's Corporate Membership is current);

• Entry into drawings at TACAA's conferences, for gifts and $100 cash prize (winner need not be present); and,

• if employed or sponsored by a CAA, enrollment in a $5,000 Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance policy,  The policy is effective from the date the premium payment is received at the insurance company through December 31 of the membership year.
